Matthew 16:13-17 (NKJV)
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar–jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Jesus is God. So whatever was said in the Old testament by God is the same as what was said in the new testament by God. They will not contradict each other…they are not two different Gods. Jesus came to fulfill the law not to destroy it, contradict it, lessen it or dilute it. What he truly did was give those who regularly violate it (the law) a lesser penalty for the sin that was committed…and that includes exoneration through absolute forgiveness for that same sin(s). My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will lead people to the revelation of that fact. Judgment is when you get what you deserve under the law. Grace is when you don’t get what you deserve under the law. Jesus IS God…whatever Jesus teaches is what God said, whatever God said is what Jesus taught. They are unified not only in spirit but also in message.
