As true disciples of Jesus Christ should always show, love, patience and mercy to sinners and unbelievers…to show compassion and to be a light in their lives…it keeps you in touch with the reality of their situation and reminds you that you were once lost yourself, so it is your mission to reach back and help them….but what about a C.I.N.O or those who “claim” to be Christians but carry themselves like they never knew God, especially in their private lives. Well the word says stay away (no inbox, go out with, or call them) if they don’t repent or show that they are trying to do right by God…Why? Blatant Hypocrisy is contagious…and after a while of being exposed to compromise…you too will think that it’s ok to claim Jesus but live like the devil…you must guard your heart. besides, you have enough problems, trials, tests and demons to deal with by trying to stay obedient and close to God on your own.
Here is the scripture that sets it out…Listen to Apostle Paul:
But I am saying that you shouldn’t act as if everything is just fine when a friend who claims to be a Christian is promiscuous or crooked, is flip with God or rude to friends, gets drunk or becomes greedy and predatory. You can’t just go along with this, treating it as acceptable behavior. I’m not responsible for what the outsiders do, but don’t we have some responsibility for those within our community of believers? God decides on the outsiders (Only God can Judge them), but WE need to decide when our brothers and sisters are out of line and, if necessary, clean house. (1 Corinthians 5:11-13 MSG)
There is one thing about ministering to an unbeliever or sinner… you know where they stand. They are cold against God…but if you continue to show love, meet their felt needs, fellowship and share the Gospel…their hearts will soon be on fire for HIM….it’s the hypocrites that you must avoid…especially if they (Christian that is) know the truth and stay unrepentant.
Now this does not mean people can’t change or will not turn away from living a double life…it just means that you may have to give them their space until they do.
