A Child’s Delight

Truth Minute: A Child’s Delight

Delight yourself also in the Lord , And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Psalms 37:4

Be at peace with God and appreciate your relationship with him even if its a season when there are no “knock out the park” blessings happening…like a good father, the Lord will observe your heart and examine things you have prayed for but are ok with not having, for example…there have been many prayers that God hears me share with him but are not answered at the time.

Think of a well-mannered child who walks through a toy section and points to what they want but doesnt get a bad attitude or throws a tantrum as a result of hearing no, and then looks up to their father and says “that’s ok, I love being with you and I have enough at home to play with. As the father watches intently, the child moves on, while holding their hand or following the cart around the store. In most cases, a good father will be moved by the way the child delighted themselves in his presence and will be more attentive to what the child wants…and for Christmas, a Birthday or even a few days later surprises the child with what they WANTED, bringing joy to the both of them in the process!

Honestly, even as an adult, I have forgotten some desires that I have pointed out to God because I am content with Him and what He has provided already…giving no thought to being needy or greedy as the days pass by. BUT, when he searches my heart for that desire or want and grants my request, I feel profound joy and so does my Father in heaven because he still goes the extra mile to surprise his child with a blessing or gift as a reminder that he heard me.
