STATEMENT OF FAITH
It’s always important to know what you believe and why. At Divine Truth Christian Center, we stand firm in truth and love on the essentials of the faith. Jesus is Lord, and we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone…
THE SCRIPTURES INSPIRED
The Holy Bible is the inspired word of God, a revelation from God to man; the all-sufficient authority in matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian living (I Peter 2:2; II Timothy 3:15-16).
ONE GOD
There is only one true, living sovereign, holy, and eternally existent God. God is infinitely perfect and He exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The triune God is the creator and sustainer of all things, the source of all truth, and is worthy of worship, confidence, and obedience. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 43:10-11, Matthew 28:19).
JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man, having two natures inseparably united in one divine person without confusion, mixture, separation, or division. Each nature retains its own attributes. In the incarnation, Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect life among us, was crucified, dead, and buried, rose on the third day, ascended to heaven, and will come again in glory and judgment. He is the only Mediator between God and man.
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We Believe that the Holy Spirit is of one substance with the Father and the Son. He eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son, and He dwells in the hearts of believers, effecting their regeneration monergistically and operating in their sanctification synergistically.
MAN, HIS FALL, AND REDEMPTION
God created man in His image. But man sinned, incurring not only physical death but also spiritual death (separation from God, which all people inherit from Adam); therefore, his only redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God (Genesis 1:17, Genesis 3:1-7, Romans 5:12-23).
THE VIRGIN BIRTH
By the miracle of the virgin birth, the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He became a man without ceasing to be God, to reveal God and to redeem mankind from sin. Christ died for the sins of all people as a substitutionary sacrifice. He arose bodily from the dead for our justification. Finally, He is now exalted at the right hand of God as Head of the Church. Christ is Lord of the individual believer, fulfilling His ministry as our Great High Priest and Advocate (Isaiah 9:6; I John 2:1-2).
THE SALVATION OF MAN
Salvation is God’s free gift to man. Salvation is neither merited nor secured in part or in whole by any human virtue, work, ceremony, or effort. We receive God’s gift only through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. In Christ, all true believers have—as a present possession—eternal life, perfect righteousness, and sonship in God’s family. Christians also enjoy every spiritual resource needed for life and godliness and have the divine guarantee that they shall never perish. God has delivered Christians from all condemnation, and we have eternal security in Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-10; 2 Corinthians 5:21)
BAPTISM IN WATER
The ordinance of baptism by burial with Christ should be observed as commanded in the Scriptures, by all who have repented. In doing so, they have the body washed in pure water as an outward symbol of cleansing, while their heart has already been covered with the blood of Christ as an inner cleansing; Thus they declare to the world Jesus, and that they have also been raised with Him to walk in the newness (Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47-48, Romans 6:4, Acts 20:21; Hebrews 10:22
THE LORD’S SUPPER
Jesus instructed His followers to remember His death and resurrection. This ordinance is observed as a memorial of His suffering and death and is a prophecy of His coming (I Corinthians 11:26).
ENTIRE SANCTIFICATION
The Scriptures teach a life of holiness without which no man shall see the Lord. By the power of the Holy Ghost, we are able to obey the command. Entire sanctification should be earnestly pursued by walking in obedience to God’s word (Hebrews 12:14, Thessalonians 5:23-24).
THE CHURCH
Christ has established a visible church, which is called to live in the power of the Holy Spirit under the regulation of the authority of Holy Scripture, preaching the gospel of Christ, administering the sacraments, and exercising discipline.
Further, The local church operates in full autonomy and as an independent entity under the Lordship of Christ, through pastoral authority, with regards to:
1: Government, policy, and operations (Titus 1:5, Acts 15:1 – 35)
2: Discipline (I Corinthians 5:5, Matthew 18:15-17, II Thessalonians 3:6, 14-15)
3: With the added value of the Episcopacy as a covering. (Titus 1:5 Acts 15:1-35).
THE MINISTRY AND EVANGELISM
A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for a twofold purpose:
1. The evangelism of the world (Mark 16:15-20)
2. The edifying of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-13)
THE CHRISTIAN HOME
In addition to these important beliefs, God has given the parents the responsibility to bring up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4; Proverbs 22:6). A consistent and whole education will occur when home, Church, and school work closely together and are in agreement on the basic concepts of life.
THE SECOND COMING/BLESSED HOPE
The personal, bodily, imminent, and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ and His second coming inspires believers for dynamic and zealous life and service for Him while waiting for His return. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; Revelations 11:15)
The bodily resurrection of those who have died in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the blessed hope of the Church. (Titus 2:13; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52)
THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF JESUS
The revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ from heaven and the millennial reign of Christ on the earth is the scriptural promise and the world’s hope (2 Thessalonians 1:7; Revelations 19:11-14; Revelations 20:1-7).
THE LAKE OF FIRE
The devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, and whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, shall be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (Revelations 19:20; 20:10-15).
